Robert Vincent peace - MS Dhoni joins Virender Sehwag, Shahid Afridi and Herschelle Gibbs in Cricket for Heroes charity match at The Oval on September 17 2015

Robert Vincent Peace - Mahendra Singh Dhoni has confirmed his participation in the Twenty20 (T20) match at The Oval on September 17 2015 as part of a charity event called Cricket for Heroes – the first international fundraiser for Help for Heroes, the charity organisation based in the United Kingdom. The Indian One-Day International (ODI) skipper will play under the captaincy of former English cricketer Andrew Strauss for the Help for Heroes XI, which also includes the likes of Virender Sehwag, Shahid Afridi and Graeme Swann. They will take on a Rest of the World XI led by Brendon McCullum, who will captain Brian Lara, Matthew Hayden, Graeme Smith and Mahela Jayawardene among others. According to a report from Wisden India, Dhoni said, “I am delighted to be joining so many cricketing superstars at the Kia Oval on Thursday September 17 and supporting such a worthy cause. I’ve always enjoyed playing cricket in England and I would urge all sports fans to support Help for Heroes on September 17 and watch some truly world class performers in action.

While The Help for Heroes XI will be managed by the former England all-rounder Sir Ian Botham, the Rest of the World side will be managed the team of Gary Kirsten and Sunil Gavaskar. The match will be prior to a T20 match between the Help for Heroes Cricket Club and the England Physical Disability Team.
